“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.” — 1 Corinthians 3:6
Both the post-resurrections narrative of the Gospels and the first chapters of the Acts of the Apostles remind us that Jesus’ Resurrection is more than an event—it is a new beginning that brings forth new unexpected life. Indeed, it reveals that every ending carries within it the possibility of renewal, and that where the world sees scarcity, Jesus the Christ offers abundance.
In that same Easter spirit, the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette and La Salette Retreat & Conference Center located in Attleboro (MA) are excited to share the launch of a new initiative: the La Salette Development Office, “Seeds of Hope.”
Rooted in our charism of reconciliation and evangelization, this new chapter is designed to expand the impact of the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette, honor the generosity of those who came before, and invite many more into the same mission of bringing as many people as possible closer to Jesus the Christ (evangelization) while spreading Mary’s message of reconciliation.
Why “Seeds of Hope”?
For decades, the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette have been a quiet but powerful presence across the world—in local parishes, retreat centers, mission fields, and shrines. One of those places is the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette and La Salette Retreat & Conference Center in Attleboro, Massachusetts, where:
- More than 15,000 confessions are heard annually;
- A weekly soup kitchen serves neighbors in need;
- The Christmas Festival of Lights welcomes hundreds of thousands from across the region, country and world;
- Retreats offer sacred space to reconnect with Christ and community;
- Seven Multi-ethnic communities find their spiritual home, worship and serve together, while transforming both the Shrine and the Retreat & Conference Center into prophetic places of unity and Christ-centered community.
These ministries have flourished because generous individuals—perhaps like your parents, grandparents, or even you—planted seeds of hope through your prayers, generosity, and support.
Now, in order to strengthen and unify these efforts even more, we have merged the former La Salette Missionary Association and the Shrine’s fundraising work into one shared roof and mission: the La Salette Development Office “Seeds of Hope.”
A Vision That Grows
Inspired by the mustard seed of Matthew 13:31–32, “Seeds of Hope” exists to:
- Foster generosity through project-based initiatives and outreach;
- Educate in a culture of giving, providing resources to help you support the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette in ways that align with your values and legacy;
- Engage volunteers and advocates whose time and talents water what others have planted.
Our vision is clear and simple: to guarantee a long life to both the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette and La Salette Retreat & Conference Center so that the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette will continue to bring Jesus the Christ and the message of Our Lady of La Salette to as many people as possible, through the ministries of reconciliation, evangelization, and outreach.
