From Tabor to La Salette
Second Sunday of Lent
La Salette Laity Reflection by the St. Louis Associates
The Transfiguration of Jesus and the Apparition of Our Lady of La Salette were both “Mountain Top Experiences” for the Apostles and for Maximin and Melanie.
I googled ‘mountain top experience’ and got, “A figure of speech for a moment of intense joy, profound spiritual revelation, that offers an elevated perspective on life. These are powerful moments that provide clarity, inspiration, and a heightened sense of connection to a deeper reality or purpose.”
My family almost never went to church. When I was in my early twenties I had a salvation experience. I felt the presence of God and His love and Grace for me for the first time. For me this was a mountain top experience. A few years back I was feeling low spiritually, a desert or valley experience most of us go through at some point. I flipped open a bible and read, “Remember the youth of your salvation.” Those words made me think back to my conversion experience, that moment when God and Jesus became very real to me. And that led me on to remembering other times in my life when God touched me in real ways guiding me and elevating my spirit. I was lifted up out of the desert!
All of us on this journey with God have had some kind of mountain top experience. I learned it is good and healthy to think back on those experiences, especially when we need a Spiritual boost! When did the reality of God and His Love put you on this spiritual journey? What were the big turning points in your life? What made you decide to be a La Salette Associate or Laity? “Remember the youth of your salvation” and share it with others.
