Risen Christ, Reconciled Hearts

Easter Sunday

La Salette Laity Reflection by the Laity of Westfield, Massachusetts

As we gather to celebrate Easter in 2026, we are called to reflect on the profound message of Our Lady of La Salette. In 1846, she appeared to urge us toward reconciliation, repentance, and a return to faith. Her message was one of tender urgency, reminding us that our actions have consequences and that God’s mercy is always within reach, even when we feel distant or burdened.

This year, the Easter Sunday Sequence beautifully echoes this theme of renewal and reconciliation. It proclaims Christ’s triumph over death, inviting us to rise from our own spiritual slumber and embrace the new life Christ offers. The Gospel reading reinforces this message, showing us that through Christ’s Resurrection we are given the gift of forgiveness and the promise of eternal life, offered freely through love.

Our Lady of La Salette’s call to reconciliation reminds us that this Easter we are invited to mend the fractures in our relationships and in our hearts. By embracing the grace of the Resurrection, we can experience true transformation, just as the Sequence invites us to celebrate the victory of life over death.

May this Easter season be a time of heartfelt reconciliation, renewed faith, and joy for all of us as we walk forward in hope. Amen.

He is Risen!
