Each new day of Lent offers us the opportunity to grow in God's love. To attain this does not require a great deal of time or deep reflection. As is so often the case, it is through seemingly small gestures of kindness and thoughtfulness that great spiritual comfort is shared.
Of course there is no set formula, but one simple way to attain this is to resolve to accomplish one positive thing each day. This need not be a dramatic decision of life-changing proportions: an encouraging word to a friend who is experiencing a difficult time, a visit to someone who is ill or a short note to a troubled person to let them know you are thinking of them, can create more good will than lavish gifts or floral tributes.
As we pray to Our Lady of La Salette during this Lenten season, seeking her love and intercession in our life, let us pause briefly each day and consider the following suggestions for positive action. We can be sure that this attempt to meet God daily will help us feel much better about ourselves and the world around us. And as grace flows into our lives, we cannot help but feel in closer harmony with Christ and his Blessed Mother.
This process might include two minutes, before the events of the day begin, to set your heart on the task named for the day, always remembering that actions of love can be quite spontaneous.
Day One: “This day, I will step forward and reach out to someone in God’s name.”
Day Two: “I will say a prayer for a deceased friend, commending them to God’s loving embrace.”
Day Three: “I will put the past behind me and welcome the future with confidence in Our Lord’s guidance and love.”
Day Four: “In all my actions and words, I will strive to reflect the Divine love God showers on all his children.”
Day Five: “I will open my heart in forgiveness to someone I feel has wronged me.”
Day Six: “I resolve to be more selfless . . . to place the desires and welfare of others before my own.”
Day Seven: “I will try to banish fear from my thoughts and replace it with the eternal hope God has given me.”
Day Eight: “1 will dwell on the good things in my life that God has given me, and place my burdens at the feet of Our Lady”
Day Nine: “I will not judge others, but try to emulate God’s compassion and understanding for all his children.”
Day Ten: “May this day be devoted to thanksgiving for all the blessings I have received in my life.”
Day Eleven: “I will accept and be grateful for the life God has given me, and not yearn for possessions I do not have.”
Day Twelve: “Today I will demonstrate my love and affection to another human being. . .to let them know that someone cares.”
Day Thirteen: “My prayer is offered for the strength to judge things fairly, with God’s Divine Sense of justice for all.”
Day Fourteen: “Let me share with others what God has given me... my love, my thoughts, and my gifts.”
Day Fifteen: “Help me to lend a hand where it is needed, and accept if my help is refused.”
Day Sixteen: “May I control unkind thoughts today, and remember that we are all God’s children.”
Day Seventeen: “I pray for the power to resist temptation and to concentrate on God’s Word and Work.”
Day Eighteen: “Let me not be overcome by trouble, but help me to face it squarely and cope with renewed strength.”
Day Nineteen: “This day I will go forth with new purpose and accomplish a good deed in God’s Name.”
Day Twenty: “I will read a passage from Scripture to remind me once again of God’s Great Glory and Everlasting Love.”
Day Twenty-Two: “I resolve to be truthful to myself and those around me, in homage to God, the source of all truth.”
Day Twenty-Three: “Today I will put myself in the place of others so that I may better understand them.”
Day Twenty-Four: “I will seek the answers to the questions in my life by being still and listening to the voice of God within me.”
Day Twenty-Five: “Let me reach out in love and prayer to bring a sense of peace and comfort where it is needed.”
Day Twenty-Six: “I will express my thanks to someone who has helped me, and in grateful appreciation for all God has given to me.”·
Day Twenty-Seven: “I resolve not to be discouraged by troubles that come my way. I know that I can never fail until I stop trying.”·
Day Twenty-Eight: “Help me bring peace into troubled relationships and find the words to ease tensions.”
Day Twenty-Nine: “I will try to let go of all the conflicting thoughts that weigh me down, and remember God is in charge of my life, and that is all that matters.”

Day Thirty: “My prayer is that I will see the good in all I encounter today and be joyful that God is always with me.”
Day Thirty-One: “I will be patient today, realizing that God has a reason and a purpose for all that is happening in my life.”
Most Holy Mother, Our Lady of La Salette,
who shed bitter tears for the people
who no longer heeded the ways of your Son,
look with kindness and understanding upon me
as I dedicate my life to you without reservation.
Grant me the grace and courage promised
to all who return to the work and word of Jesus.
May my heart-felt repentance
serve to help dry your tears,
and let me know that I am forever your child.
O dearest Mother,
through your intercession
always help me to grow stronger in my faith and devotion to your Son,
and follow the narrow paths which God provides for my salvation.
Beautiful Lady of La Salette,
hear my prayer and allow me to drawn
closer to you and your Son, now and always. Amen.
Our Lady of La Salette, Reconciler of Sinners,
pray without ceasing for us who have recourse to you.
